In the lead-up to Niagara VegFest 2015 on June 7, we’d like to introduce you to some of our wonderful vendors, exhibitors and volunteers who make the festival happen. In this Q&A, Anne Marie Vivani, owner of Cafe Garibaldi Ristorante, tells us about the restaurant’s new vegan menu, the dishes she’ll be serving at VegFest and explains the many benefits that come from eating at her family operated restaurant.
NVF: Tell us about your business.
AMV: Cafe Garibaldi Ristorante is a independent, family owned and operated restaurant celebrating our 20th year in business. We specialize in traditional Italian cuisine. We make everything from scratch. We grow our own herbs, we preserve our own tomatoes for our marinara sauce. Our delicious desserts are all made from scratch. We are pleased to announce Vegan Italian Cuisine in addition to our traditional menu. Cafe Garibaldi will now be able to offer plant-based meal options for vegans, vegetarians and non-vegan all in one location. Our food not only looks good, it tastes good !
NVF: What are you most looking forward to at Niagara VegFest 2015?
AMV: We are looking forward to introduce our rustic Italian vegan dishes that have long been a staple in the Mediterranean diet. Our hearty soups, earthy salads, as well as flavourful pastas and risottos are a wonderful meal options for a vegan’s plant-based diet.
NVF: Why is Niagara VegFest important to you?
AMV:We are excited about supporting and participating in a local event. VegFest will give us the opportunity to launch our Vegan Italian Cuisine to a large number of people attending the event. It will provide us an opportunity to have them sample our food and to explain why a family operated restaurant instead of franchised restaurant offers the best value and guarantees hand-crafted, fresh, natural, wholesome foods.
