In the lead-up to Niagara VegFest 2015 on June 7, we’d like to introduce you to some of our wonderful vendors, exhibitors and volunteers who make the festival happen. In this Q&A, Alex Longo, owner and operator of Cracked Coconut Butters, tells us about her coconut-based spreads, her love of community events and why VegFest is important to her.
NVF: Tell us about your business.
AL: Cracked Coconut Butters hand-crafts and packages a line of naturally flavoured coconut-based spreads that are an excellent alternative to jams and nut butters. All of our coconut spreads are made from the coconut flesh (not just the oil) and medjool dates that are puree’d into a smooth, densely delicious spread.
NVF: What are you most looking forward to at Niagara VegFest 2015?
AL: As the owner and operator, I love supporting community events that attract like-minded customers who care about what they eat. The VegFest community is extremely high-spirited and supportive of smaller companies like mine and I love talking with anyone and everyone!
NVF: Why is Niagara VegFest important to you?
Since Cracked Coconut Butters is operated out of Kitchener, I wanted to reach out to surrounding cities to spread the love and allow Niagara VegFest to sample our delectable coconut spreads! We are expanding fast and hope to be in stores in the Niagara Region very soon!
