Niagara VegFest Guest Speakers – Past Years

  • Camille Labchuk (lawyer and Executive Director of Animal Justice)
  • Doug McNish – Chef, consultant, educator, speaker, and committed plant pusher and activist Doug McNish will be doing a cooking demo at Niagara VegFest. He will be showcasing recipes from his new book, Vegan Everyday.
  • Dr. Kendra Coulter, Labour Studies at Brock University, and author of Revolutionizing Retail. At Niagara VegFest Dr. Coulter will be talking about “humane jobs,” jobs that are good for both people and animals.
  • Dr. Michael Greger (Nutritionfacts.org & Director of Public Health and Animal Agriculture, Humane Society of the United States)
  • Dr. Vice Lujan (Chiropractor, Plant-Strong Athlete, and Fitness Trainer)
  • Gene Baur, President and Co-Founder of Farm Sanctuary, and author of Living the Farm Sanctuary Life. He will be speaking about his experiences with Farm Sanctuary, one of the leading farmed animal protection organizations in the world.
  • Ginny Messina (Registered Dietitian and co-author of Vegan for Life and Vegan for Her)
  • Greg & Sheri Lapienes, founders of Birds of a Different Feather Microsanctuary. They will be speaking at the festival about the growing microsanctuary movement. Want to help animals, but don’t feel you have enough land or money to do so? You need to catch this session and learn all about microsanctuaries!

  • Jennifer Hintenberger (International Kettlebell Champion and Plant-Strong Athlete)
  • JL Fields, vegan lifestyle coach and educator, and author of Vegan Pressure Cooking and the co-author of Vegan for Her: The Woman’s Guide to Being Healthy and Fit on a Plant-Based Diet. She will be doing a pressure cooking demo at Niagara VegFest. Have questions about how or why to use a pressure cooker? Be sure to bring them to the festival!

  • Keri Cronin and Jo-Anne McArthur, co-founders of The Unbound Project, a multimedia and book project celebrating the inspiring women around the globe who are changing the world for animals.
  • Linda Crago (Head Farmer, Tree & Twig Heirloom Vegetable Farm). Linda will be offering tips on how to grow all kinds of unique heirloom vegetables and will also be talking about her experiences running an heirloom vegetable farm in Niagara.
